Quality you deserve. 25 Years of Excellence

Our Service department will perform openings and closings (winterizing) for pools. Try to call and schedule as early as possible because our schedule fills up fast. Also, try to keep your scheduled day because if you cancel we may not be able to accommodate you at a time of your liking.

PRE-WINTERIZING CHECK LIST

  • If you have a leak in the pool it MUST be repaired before winterizing the pool.
  • Brush and vacuum the pool. Be sure to clean the water line with a pool vinyl cleaner.
  • If you have a leak in the pool it MUST be repaired before winterizing the pool.
  • Have the pool water professionally analyzed and balance the water. (There is no charge for us to analyze your water at our store.)
  • Add winterizing chemicals as directed.
  • Circulate the pool water for a minimum of 4 to 6 hours.
  • Backwash and clean the filter according to the manufacture's instructions. Chemically treat the filter to remove scale and oils with BioGuard Strip kwik.
  • Next day Drain pool water to the bottom of the skimmer.
  • Your pool is now ready for the service department to complete the winterization. Make sure that the cover and water tubes (If used) are ready and in good condition. If you will not be at home make sure that we have access to your pool area and no large man eating animals are in the pool area.

DURING THE WINTER

  • If you have a mesh cover, check water level and pump pool down as needed. (Use a small submersible and set on pool stairs.) Don't let the water in the pool rise above half way in the skimmer.
  • If you have a solid cover keep the cover free of water. Use a submersible that does not have any sharp edges. Always be careful when using electricity near a pool. Plug pumps into a GFCI protected outlet. When pumping a cover out be sure you are not pumping pool water out also. This will happen if there are holes in the cover.
  • Tighten safety covers if they get loose. Loose safety covers will get scuffed at the pool's edge, and may also scratch coping.
  • Do not let kids and animals walk on covers.

AFTER YOUR POOL IS OPENED

  • Fill pool to operating level
  • If pool is green; Make sure to read " How to clean a Green Pool "
  • If pool is clean, start pump (Prime pump if it has not been primed already)
  • Backwash filter (Charge with D.E. if you have a D.E. filter).
  • Vacuum pool on waste, then brush sides of pool & steps.
  • Shock pool if using chlorine or if you have a salt chlorine generator. (If using a salt chlorine generator, make sure generator is off for 24 hours during shocking process) If you are using alternate chemicals, i.e. softswim, do not add anything to pool until water is tested.
  • Circulate pool for at least 24 hours.
  • Take water sample (at least 16 fl oz) to store and have it tested professionally.
  • Proceed as directed after testing.
